Wedding Information
A proper place for your marriage is in your own church, but if circumstances dictate otherwise, the Chapel in the Hills is a beautiful place for this sacred event. It is our prayer that each event celebrated here will carry with it a special blessing of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The chapel pastor will meet with you and the witnesses at the gift shop 45 minutes prior to your scheduled wedding time. All relevant instructions and the order of service will be discussed at that time. No other rehearsals will be held. Please have your valid South Dakota marriage license with you and present it to the pastor when you arrive. Marriage licenses may be purchased at any county courthouse in South Dakota (Please see enclosed form). You will need two witnesses to sign the marriage license after the ceremony. We can provide witnesses if necessary.
The chapel has a two-manual Allen organ. There is an organist available for all weddings, if desired. You may use your own organist; however, it should be noted that the chapel cannot be reserved or closed for the organist to practice, other than during the 30 minutes prior to the service.
The following are some other things to keep in mind when considering a wedding at the Chapel in the Hills:
- The chapel and surrounding grounds are beautiful in their simplicity. We strongly discourage arches, large floral arrangements, guest book tables, or other extra ornamentation.
- For inside weddings, there is room only for one or two low flower arrangements for the altar.
- The Chapel seats a maximum of 70.
- You may use a unity candle for indoor ceremonies, outside, open flame of any kind is not allowed.
- For outside weddings, white folding chairs are available to rent at $1.50 each. The chapel has a maximum of 84 chairs available. Chairs from outside sources are not allowed.
- The benches in the chapel cannot be removed from the chapel for any reason.
- Rice, bird seed, confetti, or spray strings after ceremony is not allowed..
- SMOKING OR ALCOHOL ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE GROUNDS.
- Pets, food and beverages (except water) are not allowed beyond the parking lot.
- There is a small bride's changing room available for use during you allotted time.
- We have no facilities available for receptions. There are commercial businesses nearby with reception facilities, in addition to a city park. Contact the chapel for further information.
- Weddings are scheduled in 2 hour intervals (see times available below). You will have access to the chapel and surrounding patio area beginning 1/2 hour before your scheduled ceremony time.
- Tourists are allowed in and around the chapel at all times, except during the actual ceremony.
- Be sure your date and time are confirmed before printing any invitations.
The fees for weddings at the Chapel in the Hills are:
- Monday - Thursday: $175.00 rental for the chapel and patio areas.
- Friday - Sunday: $200.00 rental for the chapel and patio areas.
- $50.00 for the chapel pastor
- $40.00 for the chapel organist (if chosen) This includes prelude, processional, recessional, and postlude for both indoor and outdoor weddings.
- $5.00 additional organist fee for accompanying a soloist (Please notify the chapel ahead of time should you wish to have the organist accompany a soloist.)
Payment in full is needed within 30 days to secure your scheduled time.

9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm
